Before our smart intersection technology can clear the road for emergency vehicles or optimize transit signals, our software delivery pipeline needs to run without a hitch!

We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to contribute to the development of our cloud infrastructure and platform tooling, embed security into our engineering lifecycle, and leverage AI/automation to streamline workflows. Your role will involve automating the software release and manual data reporting processes, deploying secure containerized applications, implementing robust "shift-left" security practices, increasing visibility of system health, supporting new infrastructure capabilities, ensuring reliability, scaling our product, and evaluating the latest AI practices aimed at improving overall engineering productivity. Working alongside a world-class team of engineers, you will ensure our production systems remain highly resilient, secure, and cost-optimized, giving our software teams the ultimate fast lane to innovate.

Location: Please note this is a hybrid role based out of our HQ in Kitchener, Ontario.

Objectives and Responsibilities

  1. Architecture & Delivery: Develop high-quality, secure-by-design systems from prototype to production. Evaluate design trade-offs and balance immediate execution with long-term architectural impact.

  2. CI/CD & Developer Velocity: Enable fast, secure iteration through build, test, and deployment automation (CI/CD), integrating automated security checks directly into the pipeline.

  3. System Optimization: Partner with development teams to implement improvements around scalability, security architecture, performance, availability, and cost; recommend changes to existing systems, including new technologies and refactoring opportunities.

  4. Shift-Left Security & Compliance: Automate vulnerability scanning, secret management, and compliance checks across cloud environments and container registries. Ensure continuous compliance with governance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001) through automated reporting and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) governance.

  5. AI & Automation Leadership: Lead AI and automation initiatives within the engineering team by implementing advanced tools and platforms across the software development lifecycle to automate security workflows, drive anomaly detection, and continuously elevate DORA metrics.

  6. Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure a consistent, secure, and compliant infrastructure across Miovision. Mentor DevOps engineers, developers and others in the organization, promoting security-first best practices and knowledge sharing.

  7. Document and Knowledge Sharing: Document processes, system architectures, and security configurations to ensure knowledge is retained and disseminated.

  8. On-Call Participation: Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain system reliability and incident readiness.

  • AWS Governance & Cloud Architecture: 5+ years of deep expertise driving AWS multi-account strategies, security, and compliance enforcement (AWS Organizations, Control Tower, AWS Config, CloudTrail, IAM Identity Center/SSO).

  • AWS Core Architecture & Networking: Solid grasp of foundational AWS architecture paired with hands-on operational proficiency in key managed cloud services (e.g., MSK, RDS, ElastiCache) and secure network design (VPCs, Security Groups, route tables).

  • AI-Driven Engineering: Deep practical experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs, such as Claude, AMP code, or OpenCode, to accelerate infrastructure code development, automate complex operational toil, and drive team-wide productivity.

  • Containers & GitOps: Experience building, deploying, and securing container-based applications (Kubernetes, Docker) utilizing GitOps methodologies and configuration management tools (e.g., Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD).

  • CI/CD & Scripting: Expertise in driving continuous delivery and trunk-based development, leveraging Python and Bash to build scalable automated workflows and custom GitLab pipelines.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced experience architecting, provisioning, and managing scalable cloud environments while building modular, …
