Terms of use

These terms apply when you use builderloo.ca, its email, and its MCP server. Builderloo is run by Torrin Leonard in Waterloo, Ontario ("we"). By using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Accounts

You need an account to post in the forum or claim a startup. You must be 16 or older, give an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@builderloo.ca if someone else gets into it.

The directory, news, events and jobs

We build the directory by software that reads what companies publish, startup hub listings and news coverage. News, events and job listings come from other sites and link back to them. This information can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. It is general information, not investment, legal, career or other advice. Check anything important with the company or the original source before you rely on it.

Links to other sites are for your convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

If a listing about your company or about you is wrong, email us or claim the listing. We may correct, hide or remove any listing at any time.

Claiming a startup

Claim a listing only if you run the company or are allowed to speak for it. We check claims by hand and may ask for proof. We may refuse a claim or remove your access if a claim turns out to be false, or if an edit is misleading.

What you post

You keep ownership of your posts, comments, listing edits and images. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, show, copy and share them on Builderloo and in its email and social media posts, for as long as they are on the site and in copies already sent. You confirm that you have the right to post them.

Forum posts go live at once and are public. Your handle cannot be changed after you pick it.

Forum rules

Do not post:

• anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone's copyright, trademark or privacy

• harassment, threats, hate, or attacks on a person or group

• someone else's personal information without their consent

• spam, scams, malware, or misleading job or event listings

• anything that pretends to be another person or company

Share your own work in Show, jobs in Jobs and events in Events. We may remove any post or comment, and suspend or ban any account, at our discretion and without notice. We are not responsible for what users post, and a post is not our endorsement.

Using the site and its data

You may read, link to and quote Builderloo, and use the MCP server with your AI tools. Do not:

• copy the directory in bulk to publish or sell it elsewhere

• collect personal information about people listed on the site

• send requests fast enough to slow the site down, or try to get around its limits

• try to break into accounts, systems or data you are not given access to

Copyright complaints

If you think something on Builderloo infringes your copyright, email hello@builderloo.ca with the page address, the work you own and your contact details. We will review it and remove the material if the complaint holds up.

The Weekly

The Weekly is a free email sent on Mondays to people who ask for it. Every issue has a link to unsubscribe, and we stop sending as soon as you use it.

No warranty

Builderloo is free and is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will be accurate, complete, available, or free of errors or viruses. We may change or stop any part of it at any time.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, from your use of Builderloo or your reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $100 CAD. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived.

You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim is made against us because of something you posted or your breach of these terms.

Ending your use

You can stop using Builderloo at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and tell account holders by email about a change that affects them. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of Ontario.
