Turning Blue Monday into the Best Monday Ever! 💙 January 18, 2027 | Maxwell’s Concerts & Events | Doors Open at 6:30 PM Blue Monday is about to get a whole lot louder! 🎸 The Accelerator Centre’s third annual Battle of the Bands: Tech Edition is back, bringing Waterloo Region’s tech community together for a night of live music, friendly competition, and support for founder mental health. Over the past 2 years, we’ve raised nearly $15,000 for CMHA Waterloo Wellington, proving that our tech community knows how to rock for a good cause. This year, we’re turning up the volume! Building a company can be an incredible journey, but it comes with real challenges. Long hours, financial pressures, uncertainty, and the responsibility of leading a team can take a toll on founders’ mental health. We believe supporting entrepreneurs means supporting the people behind the businesses, too. That’s why we’re bringing founders, startup teams, alumni, industry partners, and friends together on Blue Monday to celebrate community, make meaningful connections, and raise funds for local mental health services. What to Expect 🎸 Live Tech Bands: Watch talented members of Waterloo Region’s tech community trade their laptops for instruments and battle it out on stage. 🎶 A Night to Remember: Enjoy live music, friendly competition, and plenty of rock ‘n’ roll as our bands compete for the Battle of the Bands trophy. 🤝 Bring Your Community: Rally your coworkers, bring your friends, or make it a team night out. It’s a chance to connect with the people who make Waterloo Region’s tech ecosystem special. 💙 Rock for Mental Health: Help shine a spotlight on founder well-being and raise funds for essential mental health services in our community. Why Blue Monday? Blue Monday may be known as the most depressing day of the year, but we’re turning it into an opportunity to talk about something that matters: mental health. Entrepreneurship can be isolating, and the pressure to succeed often makes it difficult for founders to prioritize their own well-being. Battle of the Bands is a reminder that behind every startup is a person, and that a strong startup community supports its people as much as its businesses. We’re bringing our community together through music, connection, and a little friendly competition to remind founders they’re not alone. Supporting CMHA Waterloo Wellington Proceeds from Battle of the Bands will support Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Waterloo Wellington, which provides mental health, addiction, and developmental services to nearly 18,000 people across our region each year. Community support helps fund vital services, including 1st Step, a program celebrating 20 years of helping individuals and families experiencing first-episode psychosis. Since launching in 2006, the program has grown from supporting 52 individuals in its first year to 269 in 2025–26. By joining us, you’re helping make mental health care and support more accessible to people in our community. Get Your Tickets! 🎟️ Tickets: $25 One night. Local tech bands. A community coming together for mental health. Grab your friends, rally your team, and join us on January 18 as we turn Blue Monday into the Best Monday Ever! Thank You to Our Sponsors Trophy Sponsor: Magnet Forensics We’re grateful to our sponsors and alumni community for helping make this event possible and supporting mental health across Waterloo Region.

Builderloo has been collecting job postings from local startups since June. On November 4 I went through them to see who's hiring here, for what, and how much experience they want.

I went through 11,476 tech events listed in Waterloo Region since 2009 to find out what people used to show up for, what COVID took, and what has come back.

I'm trying different ways to get Builderloo in front of people in Waterloo Region. The first was 30 orange posters in Kitchener and Waterloo.
