Whether you're just beginning to think about intellectual property or want to better understand how it fits into your business, this is the place to start.
IP 101 is the first workshop in Communitech's ElevateIP learning series. You'll learn the fundamentals of intellectual property, understand which types of protection may apply to your business and how to begin building an IP strategy that supports your commercial goals.
Alexis Conrad (Principal, IP Strategy and Policy at Communitech) will be joined by guest IP professionals to deliver this free, hands-on workshop. A combination of practical knowledge, lessons learned from startups, and guided exercises will ensure you leave with knowledge you can put to work immediately.
You'll learn how to:
- Differentiate the most common forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and when they are each most effective.
- Connect your IP strategy to your business and commercialization goals.
- Be aware of the risks and benefits of different forms of IP protection, rights, and strategies.
