Position Summary

Are you an experienced Traffic Engineer, Traffic Operations Specialist, ITS Systems Engineer, or Smart Mobility professional looking to step into a high-visibility, technical pre-sales role?

As a Senior Field Solutions Engineer (Traffic Systems & ITS), you will serve as the technical authority and trusted advisor to state DOTs, municipal transportation departments, and engineering consulting partners across the Northeastern United States (NY, MA, CT, and surrounding states).

In this role, you are not simply running standard product demos—you are an embedded technical consultant. You will work side-by-side with city traffic engineers, signal technicians, and IT directors to solve complex corridor management, signal optimization, and multimodal mobility challenges using Miovision’s cutting-edge hardware and cloud-based traffic software suite.

Location: Remote (Northeast US - strong preference for MA, NY, or CT)

Travel: 40–50% across the Northeast (and occasional cross-border travel to Canadian HQ)

Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Work across city departments: Support Traffic, Transit, Fire, Police, Public Works, and seasonal work like snow management and mobility. Design connected Smart City solutions that meet city-wide goals.

  • Act as an embedded consultant: Work inside key agencies’ daily operations and lead strategic initiatives. Review their systems, document the gaps, and build clear plans from where they are today to where they want to be, with support from Miovision and our partners. Capture product and feature needs and help shape our product roadmap.

  • Scope and design solutions: Write solution designs, technical documents, and implementation plans for the integrations in each account plan. Look for future integrations with Miovision and third-party systems. Set how each department contributes, help them work together, and track progress with project management teams.

  • Run pilots, proofs of concept, and demos: Design and manage all product demos, pilot installations, and proofs of concept (POCs). Show what our products can do and prove their value.

  • Manage approvals and specifications: Work with the Approved Products List (APL) team to get products approved in the assigned territory. Work with customers and prospects to update their Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) specifications to include our Master Specifications.

  • Resolve complex issues: Be the senior contact for problems that stall purchases, delay renewals, or put customers at risk of leaving. Act as the customer’s advocate, and work closely with Product and Support to resolve issues and product gaps.

  • Grow accounts: Build account plans, create champions inside agencies, support case studies, webinars, and references, and work through cross-border rules to help large deals close.

  • Advise colleagues: Guide Sales, Product, and Support on complex questions and document territory knowledge.

  • Customer Product Feedback: Document and work with Miovision product leaders to shape long-term product strategy and roadmap priorities.

  • Travel: Represent Miovision in the field (40-50% travel expected).

Ideal Profile

We are looking for a strategic and technical professional who bridge the gap between municipal infrastructure, cutting-edge traffic technology, and multi-departmental IT networks. The ideal candidate brings a blend of deep domain expertise, consulting acumen, and hands-on implementation skills to deliver impactful solutions for city clients.

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) & Traffic Management: Deep domain knowledge of ITS, traffic management systems, Opticom preemption/priority, and network products, paired with a broad understanding of how various municipal departments interact and operate.

  • Network & Communications Infrastructure: In-depth understanding of civic network architecture and communications infrastructure. Ability to consult on technical setups—including fiber vs. cellular deployments, IPsec tunnels, and network port configurations—to ensure seamless system connectivity between traffic controllers and Miovision solutions.

  • Product & Engineering Fundamentals: A working knowledge of product development lifecycle principles and basic engineering practices to collaborate effectively with internal technical teams.

Consulting & Delivery Excellence

  • Strategic Consulting: Proven ability to develop compelling business cases, conduct thorough business analysis, and lead process mapping and redesign efforts.

  • End-to-End Implementation: Comprehensive systems implement…
