Accounting Analyst

LoopX is a Canadian technology company developing AI-based systems that improve safety and productivity in the mining industry. Our platform integrates perception, localization, and operational intelligence, and is deployed on active mining equipment to enable safer and more efficient operations.
We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Analyst to own day to day bookkeeping and be part of building a finance function to support our next stage of growth. You will run payroll, payables and receivables, keep the books clean every month, support the finance lead and work closely with our operations team on purchasing and inventory. This is a role for someone who likes building efficient processes as much as running them.
Responsibilities
Payroll
\>Run payroll in QuickBooks Online, including new hires, terminations, ROEs and year end T4s
\>Ensure source deductions are remitted accurately and on time
\>Track employee vacation and support the vacation accrual process
Accounts payable
\>Own the AP inbox: receive, code and enter vendor invoices, matched to approved POs and spend approvals
\>Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions, with receipts filed
\>Maintain vendor records, AP aging and payment runs, working with the finance lead to manage cash
Accounts receivable
\>Issue customer invoices from customer POs, apply payments and manage collections
\>Maintain customer records and AR aging
Month end and reporting
\>Complete the assigned month end close tasks on schedule
\>Prepare bank, credit card and assigned balance sheet reconciliations
\>Book month end adjusting entries as required
\>Prepare accruals and support variance review of monthly results
Tax, compliance and funding
\>Prepare GST/HST returns, WSIB and EHT filings
\>Prepare schedules for the external year end accountants
Cash and process
\>Maintain AP and AR agings and open PO data to be used in the 13 week cash flow forecast
\>Help build and document accounting processes and internal controls as LoopX scales
\>Take on ad hoc analysis and projects as the finance function grows
What we're looking for
\>3 to 5 years of full cycle accounting experience, ideally at a startup, technology or manufacturing company
\>Hands on Canadian payroll experience, including source deductions, ROEs and T4s
\>Strong QuickBooks Online skills
\>Solid Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, clean and simple workbooks)
\>Experience with month end close, account reconciliations and journal entries
\>Working knowledge of GST/HST
\>Diploma or degree in accounting, finance or business
\>You follow through: you confirm when tasks are done, flag issues early and ask when something is unclear
\>Comfortable working independently with a finance lead who may be remote
\>Exceptional critical thinking skills
Nice to have
\>CPA designation in progress or ambition to undertake the CPA program
\>Inventory and COGS accounting experience (standard cost, BOMs, landed cost)
\>Exposure to HR policies
