Senior Accountant – Public Practice (Remote)

Firm Description SRJ Chartered Professional Accountants is a cloud-based, fully remote accounting and tax firm serving private companies and their owners across Canada. We use modern tools to deliver bookkeeping, compilation, tax and advisory work to clients in a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare compilation engagements (CSRS 4200) and year-end working papers for private companies

• Prepare corporate (T2) and personal (T1) tax returns, including HST filings

• Review bookkeeping prepared by junior staff and resolve reconciliation issues

• Communicate directly with clients to gather information and explain results

• Support the manager on tax planning files and CRA correspondence

• Mentor junior accountants and review their work

A successful candidate will have

• CPA designation (or completion of the CPA Professional Education Program with the CFE written)

• 3+ years of Canadian public accounting experience with private companies

• Hands-on experience preparing T2 corporate tax returns

• Working knowledge of ASPE

• Strong written and spoken English; comfortable leading client calls

• Experience with CaseWare, QuickBooks Online and TaxPrep or Profile

Nice to have

• Experience with Xero or Dext

• Exposure to US cross-border tax

• Urdu or Hindi

Software Skills Required Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams), QuickBooks Online, CaseWare Working Papers, TaxPrep or Profile

Job Type Full-time, permanent. Fully remote within Canada.

Salary $70,000 to $90,000 per year, based on experience
