About the role
Sales
Business Development Representative
Toronto, Ontario Full-time Posted October 6, 2026
Open doors for a fully Canadian group benefits advisory firm. You find the employers, start the conversation and hand a warm, qualified meeting to an advisor.
Walrus Benefits is a Toronto group benefits and group retirement advisory firm built by former carrier underwriters. We give Canadian employers an instant estimate in two minutes, then do everything after that for them: plan design, marketing to carriers, enrolment and renewals.
We are hiring a Business Development Representative to grow the number of employers we talk to each week.
What you will do
Research and reach out to Canadian employers with 2 to 500 employees, by phone, email and LinkedIn.
Start the conversation, learn when their plan renews, and book qualified meetings for a licensed advisor.
Keep the pipeline current in our CRM: who you spoke to, what they said, what happens next.
Work with the advisors on messaging and lists, and tell us what you hear in the market.
What we are looking for
You enjoy starting conversations and are comfortable on the phone.
You are organised: follow-ups happen when you said they would.
Clear, friendly writing. Most first contact is in writing.
Curiosity about how group benefits work. We will teach you the rest.
Experience in sales development or insurance is a plus, not a requirement.
What you get
Base salary plus a bonus for qualified meetings booked.
Training from people who priced these plans at the carriers.
A small team where your work is visible and your ideas get used.
A path toward a licensed advisor role if you want it.
How to apply
Email a short note about yourself and your resume. Tell us about one time you got someone's attention who was not expecting to hear from you.
Ready to apply?
Email your resume and a short note to jon@walrusbenefits.com. We reply to everyone.
